An almost unbeatable investment of your savings: With solar panels, you achieve excellent returns and you make a valuable contribution to the environment. But what are the prices of solar panels and what other costs are associated with their purchase? And what are you looking for? We will discuss this on the basis of the following points.
How much is a solar panel? #
The prices of solar panels have fallen significantly in recent years. For a solar panel with a total power of 325-345 Watt peak (Wp), you pay on average €224,- excluding VAT. The exact costs of solar panels vary, of course, depending on the brand and type.
What do solar panels cost on average per installation? #
The average price of a solar panel per Watt peak including inverter and installation is around the €1.47. An installation of 10 solar panels (375 Watt peak) costs on average around 2021 €EUR 5390 (excluding VAT).
Total cost #
Buying solar panels at the lowest possible price means you need more solar panels to achieve the same power. This means, of course, that you also need more suitable roof area and that more mounting material will be needed. Therefore it is important to look not only at what solar panels cost, but also at the total cost. How efficient are solar panels? #
The price of a solar panel is often expressed in Euro per Watt peak (€/Wp). In this way it becomes clear that solar panels that produce little power, and therefore have lower peak power, also have less costs than efficient solar panels. Solar panels with less than 300 Wp of peak power, a lot cheaper than high-efficiency solar panels such as the SunPower panels of 425 Wp. What efficiency you need, of course, depends on how much energy you consume.
Costs vs. #
The cost of solar panels alone does not tell you much about the return on your investment. It ultimately means that the solar panels produce more than they cost and that you get the highest possible return on your expenses over the lifetime of the installation.
The yield largely depends on the location of the solar panels relative to the sun and the presence of shade. The more the panels are facing south, with the right inclination to capture most of the sun's rays, the higher the yield will be. And if solar panels can be placed on a part of the roof that is completely free from shade, that is always the better choice than panels that sometimes experience shade from pipes, chimneys or roof caps.
